Consider replacing your cell phone battery if it continually dies.
Dropping a call because your battery in your cell phone has run out can be just as frustrating as when your carrier drops your service. While this could be because you just forgot to charge the phone, it could also be a sign that your battery is losing its charge. A cell phone with a battery that can't hold a decent charge is considerably less portable, which often means the phone is nearly useless if you're away from an outlet.
Battery Unable to Hold a Charge
Brand new cell phones can often go a few days or more without recharging, depending on use. If you notice that your battery needs to be charged daily or even multiple times a day, it may be on its way to failure. Keep in mind, if you've changed your usage habit considerably, for example you're now watching a lot of movies or using the device for tethering, the short battery life could be expected.
Lack of Power
A battery that can't supply any power to the device is certainly broken. If you notice that the cell phone powers down as soon as you disconnect the charger, the battery has been damaged or is has lost all of its capacitive ability. Even if the charging graphic appears on your phone while it is plugged in, it is possible that the battery is not actually getting recharged.
Irregular Depletion
A fully charged battery should deplete evenly over the course of use. If you cell phone's battery icon quickly drops bars, sometimes two at a time, your battery may no longer be able to supply a steady flow of power to the device. Monitor the battery icon over the period of a few charges to determine if the battery is regularly losing its charge it large intervals.
Physical Damage
Cell phone batteries are fairly durable, but if you recently damaged your cell phone it is a good idea to check the battery. Blunt force trauma and water can both damage and destroy batteries. If your battery is not performing as expected, inspect it for signs of damage including cracks, dents, moisture or rust near the terminals.
