File extensions appear on your computer because of program installations and downloads. Some are familiar such as XLS for Microsoft Excel or MOV for QuickTime video. Some unfamiliar ones, like SIM, actually belong with several unrelated applications.
Aurora
SIM is a rare image format created by Aurora. It can be read, processed and converted to more common formats by XnView.
Telix
A SIM file contains a script source for Telix, a communications program originally created for DOS but now available for Windows.
SAP
This extension contains course materials created for SAP Business Education. They require a proprietary player to view.
SimulationX
SIM designated a model file developed and used by SimulationX, which creates simulations of physical systems like power transmissions and hydraulics.
VTune
Intel VTune uses this file when monitoring performance of applications written with C, C++, Java, .NET and Fortran, among others.
