Unlock the number pad to use a password-protected phone.
When phones are on, the number pad is often locked so the phone does not make random calls or open the browser by accident. To use the phone again, you need to provide a password to unlock the protected phone, so you can use all of the buttons on the number pad The password is often personal, so if you are borrowing someone's phone, you need to use the phone's default password to unlock the protected phone.
Instructions
1. Click on any button on your cell phone to bring up the unlocking instructions on the locked number pad. If you are using a touch screen, simply touch the screen.
2. Enter the appropriate signs or buttons to unlock the phone, if prompted to do so. For example, some phones require you to press "*" followed by the "Enter" button.
3. Enter your personalized password, if your phone requires you to. This can be a combination of numbers or letters.
4. Use the device's default password, if you do not know or remember the personalized password. The default password can either be obtained by calling the service provider or in the user manual of the phone. If you are using an iPhone, you need to reset the settings and create a new password when prompted. There is no default password on an iPhone.
