Unlock A Sanyo Cell Phone From Sprint Service

Unlock a Sanyo Cell Phone From Sprint Service

There are two types of mobile service technologies available in the United States as of 2010: GSM and CDMA. If your phone is locked to a CDMA network, such as Sprint PCS, you can convert it only to other CDMA networks. The process is a short one that doesn't require any unlock codes. Instead, using specialized programming and a USB cable, you wipe the programming from Sprint PCS before installing the programming for your new CDMA network on your handset.

Instructions

1. Bring up the Sprint PCS website on your computer's Internet browser. Navigate to the Sprint Mobile Sync area. Log in to the MySprint service. Click "My Online Tools." Click "Sprint Mobile Sync." Open the "Export Contacts" feature. Follow the on-screen prompts to create a backup file of your Sanyo cell phone's address book.

2. Locate a local store that services the CDMA network you are taking your Sanyo cell phone to. Take your handset into the store, explaining that you currently have Sprint PCS service and you now want to switch to theirs. Wait while the store representative installs the correct programming on your Sanyo cell phone and then activates the handset to the new CDMA network. Pay any fees the store charges for the services.

3. Log in to your new CDMA network's website. Navigate to the mobile backup program. Upload the backup file you created in Step 1. Click "Sync" to synchronize the address book you uploaded with the address book on your Sanyo cell phone.

4. Contact Sprint PCS to cancel your service. Pay any cancellation fees Sprint PCS charges you.
