Many phone service providers offer features designed to enhance your service. Caller ID, call waiting and other features are considered basic features for most providers. Voice mail is a convenient feature commonly included with most landline phone service. Voice mail records messages from callers you missed. Before callers can leave a message, you must set up your voice mailbox.
Instructions
1. Using your landline phone, dial your phone number. Wait for the voice mailbox system greeting play. The voice mail system alerts by recording that the mailbox must be set up before use.
2. Enter your temporary voice mailbox system. Depending on your phone service provider, you may not need to enter a password when dialing from your landline phone. If you do not know the password and the system prompts required to enter, contact your phone service provider and request the password.
3. Create a new password. Re-enter the password to confirm your selection. Do not use repeat digits or any part of your telephone number. Write down the password and store it in a secure location.
4. Record your voice mailbox greeting and press the "#" key. The greeting will be replayed. When satisfied with your recording, press the key indicated by the voice mailbox system to save the greeting. If not, press the appropriate key to rerecord.
