Fix Iphone Water Damage

Your iPhone may work again after water damage.

It is easy to accidentally drop an iPhone in a puddle of water as you are juggling multiple items in your hands while walking outside or in a lake while you are boating. Rather than spending the money to buy a brand new iPhone, you may be able to salvage your wet iPhone by acting quickly to help your iPhone dry. If the water damage is too severe, you'll need to replace your iPhone.

Instructions

1. Remove your iPhone from the water quickly. Turn the phone off to prevent a short circuit inside the phone. Press the button on the top edge of the phone to turn the phone off.

2. Try to absorb as much of the water as possible with a towel.

3. Take your iPhone to an Apple Store or your cellphone provider's store and ask someone to remove the back of the iPhone and remove the battery and SIM card. Removing the battery will help prevent a short circuit. Removing the battery and SIM card by yourself could cause extra damage to the iPhone because doing so is not as simple as removing the battery in an ordinary cellphone. Taking the back off the phone will also help the inside dry better.

4. Use an ear swab to absorb drops of water around and inside the phone where a towel cannot reach.

5. Fill a plastic bag full of rice and put your iPhone inside the rice. Place the bag in a warm, dry area for one full day. The rice helps remove moisture from the phone.
