The Samsung A900 mobile phone is sold by Sprint and comes locked to the Sprint network. If you want to switch to another network while retaining the cellphone, you will have to unlock the phone. You can do it using a remote unlocking code, a numeric code that is specially generated for each phone. You can order an unlocking code from websites like Unlocking, The Phone Unlockers and Unlock it Now.
Instructions
1. Obtain the phone's IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number. To get the IMEI, dial "*#06#" on the phone.
2. Purchase a remote unlocking code for the Samsung A900 (see Resources for links to websites that sell this code). You will have to provide your phone's network (i.e., Sprint) and the IMEI number. Once you purchase it, you will receive the unlocking code through email.
3. Turn off the phone, and take out the Sprint SIM card.
4. Insert the other service provider's SIM card into the phone, and turn it on.
5. Enter the unlock code in this format: "#0111*CODE#" (without quotes), where "CODE" will be replaced by the unlock code that you received. You will see the message "SIM Restriction Off," which indicates that the phone has been successfully unlocked.
