Disable Ptt

iDEN PTT handsets use SIM cards to identify with the PTT network.

Push to talk (PTT) is a core feature of cell phones that operate on carriers using Motorola's Integrated Digital Enhanced Network (iDEN) technology. Push to talk allows for walkie-talkie style communication between users of iDEN telephones. However, you may find there are instances when you must disable PTT on your phone to prevent the loud chirping sound made when PTT calls are received. All PTT handsets have profiles that disable PTT so that you are not interrupted. As iDEN PTT handsets are all Motorola products and the technology is proprietary, the menu system is similar between models. The following steps will apply on all iDEN phones.

Instructions

1. Push the "Menu" softkey.

2. Scroll down and select the "Tools" menu.

3. Select "Profiles" and use the up and down arrows to highlight the name of the currently-enabled profile. The current profile has a checkbox next to the profile name.

4. Press the "Menu" softkey.

5. Select "Edit."

6. Select "Call Filter."

7. Highlight the "DC/GC" setting using the up and down arrows, and press "OK."

8. Change the setting option to "On" to block PTT calls.

9. Press "OK" to save the call filter setting.

10. Press the "End" key until you return to the PTT phone's homescreen.
