Block Incoming Text Messages On A Verizon Nokia

Block Incoming Text Messages on a Verizon Nokia

Text messages are often more efficient than calling or sending an email, but unwanted text messages can also be frustrating and sometimes scary. If you are receiving repetitive messages from the wrong number or if someone is sending you abusive texts on your Verizon Nokia phone, you can block their number. Verizon Wireless' online service makes it easy for customers to stop unwanted messages without having to speak to a customer service representative.

Instructions

1. Register your Nokia phone with My Verizon. Visit text.vzw.com. Find the blue link to register inside of the white "Sign In" box. Click and follow the steps. According to Verizon Wireless, you must have your Nokia cell phone handy during registration because a temporary password will be sent to you via text.

2. Log on to My Verizon. Click on the red "Messaging" tab at the top of the page, then select the "Text Messaging" link. Locate the red menu on the left side of the page. Choose "Preferences" and wait for the drop-down box to appear. Click "Spam Control."

3. Block numbers. Select the gray tab labeled "Call and Message Blocking." If you have more than one line on your Verizon Wireless account, make changes to the correct phone by selecting your Nokia from the drop-down menu. In the numbered spaces provided, enter the 10-digit number that you want to block. Verizon allows you to block text messages from up to five numbers.

4. Click "Apply." Wait for Verizon Wireless to process your request. You will see the date the number block will expire on the screen. Record the date so you will know when to renew the block.
