Unlock your Nokia, then insert any SIM.
The Nokia 2760 is a dual-band GSM phone designed to work only on North American GSM networks. North American GSM networks use different frequencies from networks in the rest of the world. Because the 2760 only operates on the North American networks, it is more limited in its usefulness as an international phone. However, if you have a 2760 locked to a particular carrier, unlocking the phone to allow it to work with a North American carrier is not difficult.
Instructions
1. Remove the battery cover, battery and Subscriber Information Module (SIM) card from your phone.
2. Replace the battery and battery cover. Don't insert the SIM card in your phone.
3. Turn on your phone by pressing and holding the red "End" button.
4. Obtain an unlock code. Many online companies will generate a valid unlock code for a fee. However, since the 2760b is an older phone, the original issuing carrier may be willing to give you an unlock code for free. Contact the original issuing carrier before buying an unlock code.
5. Type the following: #PW++1# where is the unlock code supplied by the carrier or unlock code supplier. The specific code for your phone will be unique and will depend on the carrier, but will look like the following: 378826702640327.
6. Press the green "Send" key.
7. Turn the phone off and remove the battery. The phone is now unlocked.
8. Insert the new SIM card and replace the battery.
9. Turn the phone on. It should power on and connect to the network.
