Solving Problems at Work
We all run into problems at work. However, people are very different in their ways of approaching these problems. There are those who automatically give up whenever a problem arises, but others try to fix their own problems and also everyone else's problems. At my company, I am one of those problem solvers and I will share with you my techniques to solving issues. Everyone appreciates the problem solver.
Instructions
1. You cannot panic: Oftentimes, something very bad will happen. However, if you panic, you will never have a clear head. In order to solve the problem, you have to a clear head. If you need a moment, take it. Just don't panic.
2. You must stick to the protocol (at least in the beginning): Veering away from the protocol in the beginning of the sequence is unwise. Oftentimes, the protocol will work. Always try that first.
3. You have to improvise: Not all problems are clearcut. Sometimes the protocol fails. Sometimes a solution that worked in the past will not work. It is your job to get creative and find the best possible route to get a solution.
4. You must put on an air of confidence: Never let yourself show doubt, even if you are totally baffled. That makes people panic, and that will only distract you from your objectives.
5. You have to try everything: Many times the problem is caused by the most ridiculous reason. Sometimes you have to browse around (click-click-click) to find the solution. This happens a lot.
