Unlock your Nokia N95 to use with other SIM cards.
The Nokia N95 is a smart phone that was originally released in 2007. Like most other phones on the GSM network, the N95 came locked to its service provider. This means that you can only use the SIM card that came with your phone. If you unlock it, though, you can use other SIM cards. This becomes particularly useful when traveling abroad, as you can use foreign SIM cards instead of having to pay long-distance charges. Unlocking your N95 will also increase its resale value by up to 300 percent.
Instructions
1. Type "*#06#" into your keypad to obtain your IMEI number. Write this number down on a sheet of scrap paper and set it aside for a minute.
2. Contact your service provider's tech-support department and request an unlock code. Be ready to give them your IMEI number, mobile number and possibly your voicemail password. If they refuse to give you a code, you can purchase one from a remote unlocking site such as mobile2mobile.net, mobileunlocksolutions.com or foneszone.co.uk (see links in Resources).
3. Power down your N95 and remove its SIM card, located beneath the battery. Turn the phone back on without a SIM card.
4. Type "#pw+unlock+1#" into your keypad, where "unlock" represents the unlock code you received in a previous step. You get the "+" symbol by tapping the "*" button twice. You get the letter "p" by tapping "*" three times. You get the letter "w" by tapping "*" four times. After entering the code, a message will appear on your screen that says "SIM Restriction Off." Your phone is now unlocked and ready to use other SIM cards.
