Clearing up the memory on your N72 phone will speed up your phone and decrease the lag time that it takes to navigate between applications. Essentially, there are three ways to clear up memory on your device: add a memory card, delete data or reset the device altogether. Resetting the device will delete all the data from your phone and restore it to its factory defaults. Before you perform any memory cleaning on your phone, you should synchronize your data to Nokia's PC Suite for safe-keeping.
Instructions
Memory Card
1. Insert a reduced sized dual voltage (1.8 or 3V) Multi-Media Card into the media card slot located on the side of your N72 phone.
2. Press the "Options" key followed by "Format Card" and then press "Yes." You will be given the option to name the memory card. Wait for the formatting to complete, and then press the "OK" key.
3. Press the "Menu" button and select "Contacts." Highlight a contact or select the "All" box. Press the "Options" key and choose the option "Move to Folder, and then select "Memory Card." Complete this process for messages and photos as well.
Delete Data
4. Press the "Menu" button and select "Messaging." Select "Inbox," and then highlight a message. Press the "Options" key and select "Delete." Press "OK" when prompted. Complete this task for all Inbox, Outbox, Sent and Draft messages you do not need.
5. Press the "Menu" button and select "Contacts." Highlight a contact, and then press the "Options" key. Select "Delete" followed by pressing the "OK" key. Complete this task for each contact you do not need.
6. Press the "Menu" button and select "Gallery." Click on a picture that you do not want. Press the "Options" key and select "Delete." Press the "OK" button to confirm your decision. Complete this task for each photo you do not want.
Reset Device
7. Power down your Nokia N72 smart phone.
8. Hold the call button (the green key) followed by the "*" key and the number "3" key all at once. Do not release these keys.
9. Press the "Power" button while holding the call button, the "*" and number "3" key. Wait for the phone to power on.
10. Release all the keys, once you see a message stating "Formatting." Wait for the formatting to complete, and restart your phone when prompted.
