BlackBerry smartphones have a unique way of setting up sounds and ringtones. Instead of selecting one ringtone as default, the BlackBerry has different sound, or notification, profiles that you can change depending on your environment. If you are in a class or at work, set it to "Quiet" or "Vibrate." If you want the phone to ring, set it to "Normal" or "Loud." You are able to change the ringtones for each one. If you want the same ringtone for all of the profiles, you must set it in each profile.
Instructions
1. Go to the homescreen of the phone and select the speaker icon. Alternatively, you can open the application menu and select "Profiles."
2. Scroll to a notification profile that you want to change.
3. Press the "Menu" key. This is the button left of the trackball.
4. Select "Show Ring Tones."
5. Scroll to a ringtone, sound or song that you want to set as the ringtone.
6. Press the "Menu" key again.
7. Select "Set As Ring Tone" to set it.
