Reinstall Sound Systems In A Laptop

Revive your laptop's sound system by reinstalling drivers.

You might have to reinstall your laptop's sound system for a number of reasons. If you've reformatted your computer, the drivers may not be in place for the sound system to run correctly. Viruses or corrupted applications also can affect current drivers, causing the sound system to become unresponsive and require reinstallation. The process requires that you determine key information about your system.

Instructions

1. Determine the make and model of your laptop. Look for the sticker on the bottom of the computer case.

2. Navigate to the manufacturer's website. Click on the "Support" or "Downloads" links, depending on the company's website.

3. Enter your laptop's model information.

4. Download the audio drivers for your laptop. These may be separate drivers or they may be a part of your system's chip-set drivers. Make sure the driver you download is for the appropriate operating system. If you download the incorrect driver, it will not revive your sound system.

5. Install the downloaded drivers. Restart your laptop.
