Format A New Memory Card To My Nokia 5300 Phone

Format a new memory card to work with your Nokia 5300.

The Nokia 5300 is a slider-style phone that doubles as a media player. Although this phone does have a small hard drive, if you want to use your phone's media playing capabilities to their fullest, you can use a MicroSD card. However, before this memory card can be used with your Nokia 5300, it must first be formatted to conform to the phone's file system. Luckily, the process is very straightforward and fairly easy to do.

Instructions

1. Insert the new memory card into your Nokia 5300 with the logo facing outwards. You should hear it "click" when it fits into place. Note that the memory card must be a MicroSD card. The MiniSD and standard SD cards are too big to fit in the Nokia 5300 phone.

2. Go to the Nokia 5300's main menu and select the "Applications" icon. From the Applications menu, navigate to the memory card utility and select "Options" by pressing the selection key under the area where the "Options" text appears on the LCD screen.

3. Scroll down the list and select "Format Memory Card." The formatting process may take several minutes.

Once the memory card is formatted, you can save content from your phone directly onto the card, or load content from your computer onto the card and then use it on your phone.
