Palm Pixi Tips

Palm launched the Pixi device September 2009.

The HP/Palm Pixi is a thin, lightweight multimedia smartphone with a color touchscreen and a full keyboard. This device connects to the Internet through your phone provider's 3G network and runs HP/Palm's WebOS operating system. Several things can be done with these devices to improve your enjoyment of the phone.

Conserve Battery Life

HP/Palm Pixi smartphones have a very short battery life, with only 5 hours of continuous talk time for a fully charged battery. Running apps on the phone will also drain the battery, especially if they are accessing the Internet. To save battery life on your Pixi, try turning down the screen brightness through the "Screen and Lock" settings. If you use your Pixi for email, try changing the settings on your "Email" app to only check your inbox every 15 to 30 minutes, as the default setting causes the phone to continually check your account for new messages, which causes battery drain.

App Catalog

Thousands of apps are available for Pixi smartphones, such as Facebook, Pandora Radio and Angry Birds. Installing apps is a way to customize your phone to your exact needs. Many apps are available for free, though some will require you to enter credit card information. However, once you enter your payment information one time, it will be saved to your HP/Palm profile and you will not have to enter it again.

Back Up Information

HP/Palm Pixi smartphones do not have MicroSD or SIM cards for saving your contacts or application information. However, the device will automatically back up your information to your HP/Palm profile via the Internet. If your Pixi needs replacing or upgrading, all you need to do is log in to your profile and your existing information will be downloaded to the new HP/Palm device.

Finding Contacts or Apps on a Pixi

All HP/Palm WebOS phones have the "Just Type" feature. To find a contact or app on your phone, all you need to do is begin typing it in on your HP/Palm Pixi home screen. You can then scroll through the apps and contacts on your phone that match what you type. This is a quick and easy way to find things on your device without having to search through menus.
