Printers can be used with MS-DOS.
Knowing install a printer using MS-DOS, MicroSoft Disk Operating System, is beneficial if you are attempting to add a printer to an older Microsoft operating system, Windows 95 or Windows 98. Installing a printer this way requires just basic computer knowledge and, additionally, it allows you to be able to print directly from MS-DOS.
Instructions
1. Connect printer to computer. As all printers differ, refer to the instruction manual the printer came with.
2. Click "Start" in the bottom left corner of the task bar on computer screen and select "Settings."
3. Select "Control Panel" from the "Settings" drop-down menu.
4. Double-click "Printers" in the "Control Panel" window.
5. Double-click "Add Printer" in the "Printers" dialogue box and follow the instructions that appear on screen to install the printer.
6. Select "Yes" under "Do you print from MS-DOS-based programs?" when the "Network Path Name" prompt appears. Continue following instructions on screen to complete printer installation.
