HTC smartphones with the Android operating system are capable of sending and receiving e-mails. Because you are required to enter Google account information when setting up the phone, your Gmail account will automatically be set up. Users of other online e-mail providers, like Yahoo!, have the option to set up those accounts as well. The settings for Yahoo! servers are already programmed into the phone; you just need to provide your account information.
Instructions
Automatic Setup
1. Click "Applications" from your Android's home screen. Slide your finger across the screen to scroll through the list of apps.
2. Tap "Email" to open your inbox. If you've already added a second e-mail account, tap the menu button, which looks like a rectangle with two lines in it. Tap "Accounts," press the menu button and tap "Add Account." If this is your first account after the original Gmail account, the "Add Account" window will open automatically.
3. Tap "Yahoo! Mail" in the list of providers, and enter your e-mail address and password. Click "Next." Give the account a name to differentiate it from your other accounts, and click "OK." This should complete the process. However, if the automatic setup fails, you might need to enter the settings manually. First check to ensure that your password is correct.
Manual Setup
4. Enter your e-mail account, and tap "Add Account." Follow the procedure from steps one and two above. Enter your e-mail address and password, and tap "Manual Setup."
5. Tap "IMAP Account." Enter "imap.mail.yahoo.com" as the IMAP server name, and enter "143" as the port number. Tap "Next."
6. Enter "smtp.mail.yahoo.com" as the SMTP server name and "587" for its port number. Tap "Next."
7. Enter an account name to differentiate it from your other accounts, and enter your name. Tap "Done" to complete the process.
