Access My Yahoo! Email From My Droid

Several different smartphones use the Droid system.

Yahoo! is one of the few webmail services that does not work with POP protocol; this service is reserved for users with paid Yahoo! Mail accounts. However, this does not mean that you cannot get your Yahoo! Mail via your Droid phone -- you will just have to use IMAP protocol instead of POP. Yahoo! Mail only works over your phone's 3G connection, not Wi-Fi.

Instructions

1. Turn off wireless on your phone.

2. Press the email button to open the Droid's default mail application. Once open, enter your full Yahoo! email address, including the "@yahoo.com," and password. Instead of clicking the "Next" button, select "Manual Setup."

3. Select "IMAP" from the next screen, and fill in the IMAP server as "imap.mail.yahoo.com." If the port is not already set at "143," fill that in as well. Click "Next" to access outgoing IMAP settings.

4. Set the outgoing server to "smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com" and the port to "587." Select the setting "Requires Sign-In."

5. Select the settings for your email account, including the interval that it checks for new messages, the name of the account, and the display name for outgoing messages.
