iPods are connected to a computer with a USB cable.
One of the fundamental functions of an iPod is its ability to sync information with a user's computer. Music and videos, as well as notes and applications on the iPod Touch, can be shared between the iTunes software on a computer and an iPod. The process can be done automatically or manually -- in either case, the it's quick and easy.
Instructions
1. Connect your iPod to your computer with the USB cable that came with the device.
2. Open iTunes on your computer, if it does not open automatically.
3. Choose "Sync iPod Automatically" and click "Apply" if you want your device to automatically sync whenever it is connected. If this setting has previously been selected, the iPod will begin to sync and you can stop it, if necessary, by clicking on the "x" next to the message at the top of the screen that indicates a current sync.
4. Choose to manually sync your iPod by checking the box next to "Manually manage music and video" and clicking "Apply." Select the items in iTunes that you would like to sync with your device by checking the box just to the left of a song or video. Click "Sync."
