Transfer Contacts From a Cell Phone if the Screen Goes Blank
When a cell phone screen breaks, many people are left without any contact information. With the rise in cell phone usage, people have become dependent on their cell phone contacts for all the phone numbers they need. If your cell phone screen goes blank, transferring your contacts into a new phone may be done several ways, either on your own or with assistance from a cellular retailer.
Instructions
1. Take the old phone to a cellular retailer. Purchase a new phone and ask the sales representative to transfer your contacts. This can be achieved using their computer system and will only takes a few minutes. The process is usually free; however, small fees may apply if you purchase the new phone elsewhere, such as through a friend or via eBay.
2. Switch out the SIM card from your old phone into your new phone, if it is equipped for a SIM card. User contacts are stored on the SIM card (which can be compared to an external hard drive) and can easily be used on other SIM card-equipped phones, according to Tech-FAQ. Both phones must be SIM-based in order to make the switch. Some cellular carriers, such as Verizon Wireless, do not offer any SIM-based phones; other carriers, such as AT&T, offer phones with and without SIM cards.
3. Sync your new phone to your computer, if you previously performed a backup to your old phone. This will only work if you own a smart phone or iPhone, which comes with a USB cord that provides the ability to connect to your computer and back up (or store) its contents. If your phone is equipped with such technology, all data can be recovered and loaded onto your new phone.
