A frozen cell phone does you little good.
A phone in a frozen state is essentially unusable, as you cannot see incoming calls or texts or place any phone calls. There are a variety of factors that cause different cell phones to freeze up, such as a large amount of data being received by the phone at one time or a significant software failure. Manually unfreezing the phone's software saves you money that would be spent on either repairs or a brand-new device.
Instructions
1. Connect the phone to its charger or a universal charger that's compatible with the phone. Then, plug the phone into an outlet. The charging action jolts the phone out of its frozen state.
2. Hold the phone's "Power," "Off" or "End" button for 10 to 15 seconds. The phone is unfrozen if it shuts down. Then, power the phone back on to begin using it again.
3. Sync the phone with a computer software program that's compatible with the phone (for example, "iTunes" for an iPhone). The exact method for syncing the phone varies per phone model. The phone unfreezes once it recognizes the software program.
4. Hold down the phone's reset button or buttons (for example, iPhone users must hold down both the "Home" and "Power" buttons) for 10 seconds to reset the phone. This resets the phone's software, which causes the phone to power down and then turn back on. No data is lost during this process.
5. Remove the phone's battery from the phone. This causes the phone to unfreeze and power down. Wait a couple of minutes and reinsert the battery into the phone. Then, turn the phone back on.
