Unlock A Nokia 2610b Phone

Unlock the software on your Nokia 2610 so that you can use it with SIM cards from any network.

The Nokia 2610B is a basic candy-bar shaped phone that includes Internet access and email capabilities. The phone is sold by the AT&T network, and if you purchased it with a contract the software will come locked. This means that you cannot use it with a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) from a different network. If you would like to use your Nokia 2610B while traveling or if you want to switch to a different service provider, you need to get it unlocked.

Instructions

1. Buy a new SIM card for the Nokia 2610 mobile phone. Make sure that the SIM card is from another network. You can purchase a prepaid card from a convenience store for about $20.00 as of 2011.

2. Turn off the Nokia 2610B mobile phone and remove its battery. Underneath the battery you will see a 15-digit code known as the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) code. Write down this code on a piece of paper and save it.

3. Order an unlocking code for the Nokia 2610B. You can purchase one from UnlockItNow, GSM Liberty, and FoneFunshop (see Resource links). You need to provide them with your IMEI code, an email address and your payment information to complete the transaction. You can also call AT&T and request an unlock code for your phone; they should give it to you if you have fulfilled your contract requirement or even if your wireless use and payments are in good standing with the company.

4. Write down the unlocking code after receiving it in your email.

5. Remove the SIM card from the phone and replace it with the new one. Put back the battery and turn your phone on. You will receive a prompt to "Enter a Subsidy Code."

6. Type in the unlock code that you purchased and press the "OK" button.
