Change The Microphone For The Nokia N95

Nokia released the N95 in Europe in 2006, and because of its success, brought the device to the U.S. in 2007. The N95 features a sliding design, which allows for a numeric keypad to be hidden under a large screen. Unlike some other manufacturers, Nokia tends to use a lot of removable components, which means if something goes wrong on the phone, you can easily open the device and exchange the broken component, instead of having to get the entire device replaced.

Instructions

1. Turn the Nokia N95 over. Push down on the battery cover to remove it, then pull out the battery.

2. Slide the top piece up, exposing the keyboard. Insert your pry stick between the back housing and the keyboard housing on the left side of the keyboard. Pull out on the stick to bend the housing around the ports and pop it free. Remove the back housing.

3. Place your pry stick underneath the bottom of the keypad, on the left side. Pull up until you hear that keypad clip pop loose. Do the same thing on the right side of the keypad, and then pull up to remove the keypad.

4. Slide the N95 closed and turn it over so you can see the back side. Remove the four visible T6 screws. Two of the screws are located at the top twp corners, and the last two are located halfway down the phone on either side.

5. Pull up on the plastic cover on top of the N95 to remove it.

6. Slide the N95 open and lift up on the control board. Be careful because the board is still connected by a cable. Turn the board so you can see the underside, and pop off the cable using your pry stick.

7. Position the N95 control board so you can see the underside, where the cable was connected. Use your T6 screwdriver to remove the two screws located at the bottom two corners of the board. Lift up on the control board to remove it and set it aside.

8. Pull the white bottom cover out of the remaining housing. Locate the small black microphone sitting in this housing. Pull it out with tweezers, then put your replacement microphone back in its place. Reverse the disassembly procedure to put your N95 back together.
