Load Music Onto An Ipod With Real Player

Newer versions of RealPlayer are compatible with iPod synchronization.

RealPlayer is a diverse multimedia player that can manage a user's extensive music collection, burn CDs, play movies and download games. Similar to iTunes, RealPlayer is also capable of syncing MP3s to an iPod. After you update and reconfigure your application settings in each software program, you will be able to easily sync your favorite songs from your RealPlayer music library to your iPod.

Instructions

1. Download and install the most recent versions of iTunes and RealPlayer. Older versions of Real Player may not include iPod software.

2. Go to "Start," click "All Programs" and open iTunes. Using a USB cable, connect your iPod to your computer. After iTunes recognizes your iPod connection, click on the iPod icon in the "Device" pane. Click the "Summary" tab and check the box next to the "Manually manage music and videos" and "Enable disk use" options. Next, click the "Podcasts" tab and remove the check next to "Sync Podcasts." By disabling the software's automatic updates, you will prevent future conflict when using your iPod with RealPlayer.

3. Right-click the iPod icon in the "Device" pane and select the "Eject" option. After you've safely removed your iPod, disconnect the iPod from your computer and close iTunes.

4. Reconnect your iPod to your computer.

5. Go to "Start," click "All Programs" and open RealPlayer.

6. Click on the "Tools" tab and select "Preferences." The "Category" menu will appear on your screen. Select the "Devices" option. Your iPod will be listed in the "Installed Devices" section and should say "Enabled" next to the device. If it doesn't say enabled, click the "Enable Device" button. Click the "OK" button to return to the main screen.

7. Click the "Burn" tab and select your iPod from the "Current Burner/Device" drop-down menu. The music in your RealPlayer library will automatically sync to your iPod.
