Troubleshoot A Sony Rmt V505

The Sony RMT-V505 is the remote control that comes with Sony's RDR-VX500 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo player. The remote also features device support for a television and an audio receiver. Proper setup of the remote is necessary to ensure that the remote remains fully functional throughout the course of use.


Instructions


1. Install fresh batteries. The remote requires two AA batteries to function. If the batteries or used or weak, the remote might not work properly.


2. Program the remote for the devices you wish to use with it. The remote can control TV's and audio receivers in addition to the DVD/VCR player. To program the remote for a TV, set the TV/DVD video switch to "TV," press and hold the "Power" button and enter the two-digit manufacturer's code. To program a receiver, repeat the same steps but with the TV/DVD vdeo switch set to "DVD Video."


3. Select the proper device on the remote. If you are trying to control the DVD/VCR player, set the TV/DVD video switch to "DVD Video." If you are trying to control your TV, set the TV/DVD Video switch to "TV."


4. Point the remote directly at the remote sensor for the device you are using it with. Since the remote uses IR technology, you must be within range of the devices IR sensor and not be obstructed by walls, windows or cabinets.


5. Set the "Command Mode" switch on the remote to the corresponding Command Mode for your DVD/VCR player. Press "System Menu" on the remote, select the "Setup" tab and select "Options." Ensure that the Command Mode listed corresponds to the one selected on your remote. If you are receiving interference from another Sony device, change the Command Mode on both.
