Open Gprs In A Sony Ericsson T290i

The Sony Ericsson T290i supports General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), through which you can access the Internet at speeds varying between 32 to 40 kilobits per second. This data service is actually provided by your cellular network provider and to get it to work, you must have the carrier's appropriate Internet settings first. After entering these settings, you can surf the Internet on the phone's built-in WAP browser.

Instructions

1. Contact your cellular network provider and ask the customer service representative to provide you with the GPRS settings. You need the Access Point Name (APN) address, username, password and IP address. Write down these settings.

2. Press the main "Menu" button on the phone and select "Connect."

3. Choose "Data Comm."

4. Select "Data accounts," then "New account." Select an account type for access as advised by the network operator.

5. Enter a name for the data account and enter the settings you received from the carrier in each respective field, including APN, username and password.

6. Press "Save" and confirm by selecting "Yes."

7. Press "Menu" again and go to "Web Services."

8. Go to "Options," then "WAP Profiles."

9. Select "New Profile."

10. Enter a name for the profile and press "Yes."

11. Select "Web Services" and choose the data account you made earlier. In the "IP address" field, enter the address you received from the carrier.

12. Press "Save" and confirm by selecting "Yes."

13. Go to "Menu," "Web services," "Yes," "Enter Address," "Yes," "New Address," then "Yes."

14. Access the web by entering the URL of a website. The phone will then connect to the Internet.
