There are many reasons for wanting to change the provider of your Nokia 6111 cell phone service, but do your research before you make the change. Instructions
1. Search online for cell phone unlocking software. Download the software (free versions are available) and install it on your computer.
2. Find your Nokia 6111 serial number by selecting the following from your phone menu system: Menu > Settings > Security > Security module details > Serial Number. Alternately, you can enter "*#06#" on the keypad at any time to display your serial number.
3. Open the cell phone unlocking software on your computer. Enter your serial number. Enter your current network provider. Enter "Nokia" for the manufacturer. Enter "6111" for the model number. Enter "2" if asked for the phone type. Hit enter. You will be given several codes (usually seven).
4. Turn off the phone. Slide the rear cover off the phone and remove the battery. Remove the SIM card with your fingers. Replace the battery, but do not replace the SIM card. Replace the back cover of the phone.
5. Turn on the phone. Enter the entire code from the unlocking software, including symbols.
6. Your phone is now unlocked. Turn off the phone. Remove the back cover. Remove the battery. Replace the SIM card. Replace the battery. Replace the back cover. Call your new cell phone provider to set up your service.
