Unlock the Palm Treo 800W with a code so that you can use it with any network.
The Palm Treo 800W is a smart phone that comes equipped with GPS, Wi-Fi and a QWERTY keyboard. If your purchased Treo 800W phone through a network, then it came locked to that network. Mobile service carriers do this to prevent you from switching to a different company once your contract is complete. However, this can be inconvenient if you wish to use your smart phone in a different country. To do this, you will need to get it unlocked.
Instructions
1. Turn on your Treo 800W and dial *#06# into the keypad. This will make a 15-digit code appear. This is known as the IMEI (international mobile equipment identification) number.
2. Select a website that sells unlock codes for the Palm Treo 800W. Some that you can consider using are CellfServices, MobileUnlocked and UnlockItNow. As of 2010, a single use code costs about $25.
3. Go to an unlocking site and enter the IMEI number. From the drop-down menu, select Palm as "Manufacturer," and Treo 800W as the "Model." Put in your credit card or Paypal information and an email address. Get your unlock code from your email.
4. Turn your Treo 800W off and take out the SIM card. Insert a card from a different network and turn your phone back on. Wait for a message that requests an unlock code.
5. Type in the code that you received and click the "OK" button. Wait for the Treo 800W to restart. When it comes back on, it will be unlocked. You can verify this by checking the top of the screen. It should have the name of the new network.
