Take Apart A Moto Razr

If you want to take apart a Motorola V3, V3c, V3i, V3i DG or V3x Razr phone, you can disassemble the phone using small screwdrivers and thin, flat card such as a SIM card. You may want to take apart your Moto Razr in order to change the SIM card, replace the keypad, fix the battery cover or just to learn about the components of the cell phone.

Instructions

1. Remove the battery door. The battery door can be lifted easily using your fingers, or a flathead screwdriver. Pop open the battery door by applying pressure directly under the hinge of the door and pushing upward. The battery door will come off easily.

2. Pull out the SIM card. The SIM card will be located on the right hand side of the phone under a small silver metal holder. Pull the SIM card upwards with our fingers to remove it. Set it aside in a safe place.

3. Unscrew the base. Remove the two T6 screws that are located on either side of the SIM card. Use the T6 screwdriver to remove these and set them aside in a safe place.

4. Remove the base of the Razr. Use the SIM card to gently pull apart the base of the Razr so that it pops open. You may need to pull the phone's top and bottom pieces a little more with your fingers to separate it completely.

5. Remove the keypad. The keypad is held securely in place by six metal tabs surrounding the base. Pry these tabs back using the flathead screwdriver. When all six tabs are pointing upward, slowly lift the keypad off the phone.

6. Remove the screen cover. Remove the four rubber "dots" around the screen using the flathead screwdriver, then unscrew the screws underneath. The screen cover will snap off easily with your fingers or by sliding the SIM card underneath and pulling the screen upward.

7. Remove the connectors. The connector connects the keypad to the motherboard of the phone. Unscrew the screw with the T5 screwdriver and push the connector out of the hinge. Do the same to the other side.

8. Remove the LCD module. Use the flathead screwdriver to pop the LCD module out of the phone. Use light pressure to pull these up and out, and set aside in a safe place.
