Use A Belkin Router For Access Codes

When you connect a new router to your home network, the router does not usually come with access codes pre-installed. Belkin routers ship with a blank access code, and you can make changes to your router's settings very easily because of this. However, this means that anyone else can also change your settings. Once you connect to your Belkin router, you can use it to set your access codes so that only you can access these settings.

Instructions

1. Plug an Ethernet cord into your computer's Ethernet port.

2. Connect the other end of this cord into any of your Belkin router's Ethernet ports.

3. Open a new tab in your Web browser, type "http://192.168.2.1" into the address bar and press "Enter" to connect directly to the router.

4. Point your mouse cursor to the right-hand side of the page that loads and then click "Login." Click "Submit," leaving the password field blank.

5. Scroll down the left-hand side of the page that loads and then click "System Settings."

6. Scroll to the "Administrator Password" header, click within the box entitled "Type in new password," and then enter your desired access code.

7. Click within the box entitled "Confirm new Password" and again enter your new access code.

8. Click "Apply Changes" and then disconnect the Ethernet cord from your computer.
