Connect A Pc To The Internet Via Bluetooth Phone Software

Connect your computer to the Internet with Bluetooth.

Bluetooth allows you to connect devices to one another without the need for cables. The transfer rates are fairly fast and it's more convenient than carrying around a bunch of cables. One use is to pair your PC and cell phone together so that you can access the Internet from just about anywhere.

Instructions

1. Get a Bluetooth dongle and software for your PC. This will allow your computer to communicate with your cell phone. Although Microsoft Windows has built-in compatibility with Bluetooth, you will need the software to connect the dongle to the PC. You can purchase these online as well as at your local computer store.

2. Insert the software CD from your Bluetooth dongle into your computer. It will ask you if you wish to install the software and drivers. Click "Yes" and follow the instructions from the wizard.

3. Insert your Bluetooth dongle into the USB port on your computer.

4. Power your phone on and open up the main menu. Go to "Settings" and find "Bluetooth" to turn it on. Find another tab that says "Make Phone Discoverable," and select it.

5. Turn your computer on and from the "Start Menu" go to the "Control Panel" and then to "Find Bluetooth Devices." Choose "Add Wireless Device." Your phone should be sitting within 5 to 6 feet of your computer. A new window will appear and your phone's make and model will be inside of it. Select your phone and click "Next," and follow the directions given by the Bluetooth wizard to pair the devices.

6. Input the PIN code for your Bluetooth phone when it asks for it. For most phones the default is 0000 (zeroes) or 8888. If those don't work, check your user's manual.

7. Go back to your computer and go to the "Control Panel" and then to "Network and Sharing." Right click on "Dial-Up Networking" and select "Connect Dial-Up Networking." Find the tab that says "Setup a Connection or Network," click on it and scroll down until you see the make and model of your Bluetooth mobile phone. Select it and click "Next."

8. Put in the phone number, username and password for your mobile service provider. This will vary from service to service and you will need to get this information from your carrier. Click "Next" once you've entered this information.

9. Click on the dialup connection icon once it's created and click on the "Connect" tab. This will cause your Bluetooth phone to dial your mobile service provider and connect to it. It will take about 20 to 30 seconds; once it connects, just open your Internet browser.
