Unlock A Verizon Blackberry 8830 World Edition

Unlock a Verizon Blackberry 8830 World Edition

If you love your BlackBerry 8830 World Edition phone, but you do not want to keep your Verizon plan, you would have to unlock the device altogether in order to use it with another GSM (Global Service Mobile Communications) network. Unlocking your device from the Verizon network is easily done with the use of an unlock code. You can obtain the unlock code for your mobile phone from Verizon Wireless or through a third-party mobile unlocking company.

Instructions

1. Power down your phone, remove the battery and insert a SIM card into the slot located within the battery compartment of your BlackBerry 8830 phone. If there is already a SIM card, you do not need to complete this step. The SIM card does not have to be active.

2. Reinsert the battery and power on your phone. Wait for the phone to load then click the "Manage Connections" icon and select the option to turn off all connections.

3. Press the "End" button to return to the home screen and click "Options," followed by "Advanced Options" followed by "SIM Card."

4. Enter "MEPD" using the keypad on your BlackBerry. You will not see the letters populate on the screen. You will notice, however, that the network status is "Active."

5. Hold down the "ALT" key and type "MEP2" using the keypad on your BlackBerry. Again, this phrase will not appear on your screen.

6. Enter your unlock code in the appropriate field. Pay special attention to enter the correct code, because you are only given 10 tries. After 10 times, the phone will be locked forever. Press the trackball to accept the code. You will notice the network status says "Inactive" indicating that the phone is unlocked.
