Finding the MAC address on your Mac seems like a redundant statement, but a MAC address and a Mac computer are two very different things. A computer's MAC address refers to the Media Access Control address, which is used to identify the computer's wireless network adapter. A Mac computer, on the other hand, refers to a computer manufactured by Apple that runs on the Mac OS operating system. Mac computers, like all computers with a wireless network card or adapter, have a MAC address that can be found in a few simple steps.
Instructions
1. Click the "Finder" icon on the Mac's dock, followed by the "Applications" folder. Double-click the "System Preferences" icon to open the System Preferences window.
2. Click the "Network" icon under the "Internet & Wireless" heading. Click the "Advanced" button to view the advanced wireless settings.
3. Click the "AirPort" tab and locate the section labeled "AirPort ID." The series of numbers and letters listed after the "AirPort ID" heading is the computer's MAC address.
